My dad was a farmer and my mother is from Ethiopia and she moved in Tanzania when she was 10 years old with her parents when the situation there was very bad in starvation because of tribes war. I went to school in a very difficult conditions as all of us were sitting on the floor as there were no desks and we had to walk miles away to fetch water, fire woods etc but with all those challenges I managed to pass my final exams and selected to join Secondary School in Arusha town later I joined the Field guide, Tourism and Wildlife Management College. From the roots I grew up, I always wanted to help and work with community around me whenever I can. I have been working in Tourism Industry for 17 years as a Field Guide, Wildlife Photographer and Organising Safaris (may be I will organize your's next time you visit here and you want to hire a safari car, guide and visit National Parks). "HOW TO PREPARE RICE WITH ROASTED MEAT" by Yesse Meena
First cut the meat to small pieces , boil it until it becomes soft, cut one onion in small bits, prepare at least two tomatos, cut them in small pieces, put at least five spoons full of cooking in a soucepan, when oil gets hot pour the onions and fry until they change colour to chocolate, then pour tomatoes in the mixture and fry until the mixture becomes soft, put a little salt - it depends on the amount of food, then put the meat in the mixture and fry for ten minutes, finally the soup -[meat's juice ]- in the mixture and boil for ten minutes. The soup is ready for the rice. You will need to cook rice. HOW TO COOK RICE: Prepare rice, wash it , boil water in the soucepan - the amount of water depends on the amount of rice to be cooked, one kilo of rice can be cooked by two litres of water, put salt - it depends, put four spoons full of cooking oil and boil with just a little heat ,so that the rice will go on getting heat gradually until water dries up. to this point rice is ready , it can be saved , and be eaten with the roasted meat .

The maasai parents have division of labor, a man's work is to take care of the cattle only, it is the only capability a maasai man have in the society . A maasai woman is so much reliable in the family, she finds food for the family, takes care of her husband eg washing clothes for him, washing beddings for the family takes care of the children, milks the cows, and builds a house -boma for the family. Maasai women have craving for their children-girls to get education because they believe that education is a liberation for the oppressed maasai woman .

"MY DECISION TO STUDY IN UNIVERSITY." by Yesse Meena

As you can note, this is the century of science and technology so i have decided to gain more knowledge how to teach effectively and also how to supervise the school as the head and the manager of school.
In university I am studying the following subjects: computer technology, school administration, communication skill, classroom management, statistics, evaluation, general teaching methods, social studies, and vocation studies.
The government has recognized my studies, I am now in the first year in the last semester . Will study for two years which are four semesters.
Soon after finishing the first semester the government added to me another promotion to be a school manager in our country, if you advance yourself the government values you and give you a bigger salary. I believe soon after finishing my course, I will have advanced my ability in working. this is why I have decided to read for diploma course in university.

_"THE NATURE OF ORPHANAGE IN MAASAI COMMUNITY" by Yesse Meena

_
Most of the maasai are pastorals, it is the only typical
tribe in Tanzania, most of them do not build permanent and beautiful
houses because they don't stay in one place for a long time, they
always shift to the places where they can get water and pasture for
their cattle. It is the only tribe in Tanzania which values their
tradition more than any
thing.
They have traditional leaders The local leadership is in age group basis, the best thing we pip and adopt from them is the way age groups respect each other. Young men respect elders, they can be sent to go to do some thing or go some where with out minding whether the one who has sent them is their parent, brother sister, or mother,
If a child commits mistakes any elder can punish him just because he belongs to the community. An elder person has a command over any young one in the community, children in Maasai belong to the community the same for the women , they believe a woman belongs to the same age group of her husband, through this way of living , some of the maasai parents have died of AIDS and leave numbers of children orphans.
In Maasai there are two groups of people,- the first group is the group of rich, and the second one is the group of poor. People in poor group seek labor works from the rich ones, rich people enslave the poor ones , - this is the group with many people, most of the pupils from the group of misery parents are always very intelligent because they use most of their time in thinking about school and are always serious with the homeworks they are given by the teachers, they are different from the children whose parents are well off, these children use most of the time in thinking about their shares in their parent's wealth . It is a Maasai custom that if the children become grown ups they start to live independently , they no longer live with their parents, so their parents give them a part of the cattle they own to enable them to survive and make an accumulation of cattle the same way as their parents.
Most of the pupils from the rich families do not like school, the best pupils in most of the Maasai schools are from poor families, most of them do not get support in their education so they stay at home.
Maasai tribe values cattle more than any thing so if one owns a big flock of cattle he will be considered as the one who has a big influence over others, he is considered to have a big power over the people in a poor class. With the influence of wealth many maasai old men marry young girls from poor families, they marry many wives because they can pay dowry to their parents some of the rich old men marry to 12 wives . An old man with 70 years can marry a young girl of 16 years , what is mostly cared is the number of cattle a poor man will be given as the dowry for his daughter, they bear many children after some few years the old man dies because of oldness and leave some young widows and a big number of orphans.
The above are the reasons of the orphanage in maasai community.

Bericht 27.11.2011 : " A masaai tribe" by Yesse Meena

Maasai Frauen
__
Maasai is a typical tribe in Tanzania naturally they are pastoralists , pastoralists are interested in walking around with cattle looking for the pasture for their cattle. They don't build permanent houses because it is not their custom to stay in one place for a long time. they live in small temporary houses called bomas, most of our students are Maasai. Some of the maasai parents do not think if education is important. They always teach their children about their traditions
This tribe has been special in our country because it is the only tribe in our country which values their tradition more than anything you can think.
They have an age group set, a maasai child is for the Maasai, he doesn't belong to his family only he can be sent to go any where by the one who is older than him. An older maasai has command over any one who is younger than him, young maasai who have not yet been circumcised should respect whoever older than them. The clan has been set in groups as follows:
The youngest people are called 'LAIYONI' this is the group of the children who are two years to twelve the time they get circumcised. the older group is ORKELEA, this is the group of the young men who have just been circumcised, Generally the young men who have been circumcised in the sociate are maasai warriors, they act as clan soldiers, they ensure peace in the clan , they take care of the cattle , and what ever they own in the clan.
The authority has been given to different age groups . The maasai leader is called LAIBON he is not only a leader but also a witch doctor who treats people using local medicine.
We are trying to teach maasai children , so that if they get education they will leave some of their ways, of leaving which supposes education.
Maasai have good things we learn from them for e.g. the way they bring up the young men to respect the elders.
Naturally maasai children are very intelligent, last year we had 89 pupils who sat for the national examination they all passed to go to secondary schools, that was 100%. Our objective is to make a school a good place for the maasai children, through improvement of environments, buildings and academic.
Our district has 70 schools, our school was the second among the seventy schools. The problem we have most of the maasai are too poor to pay the school fees for their children, in our plan if we get the one who is willing to give a sponsor ship to a pupil we always select the one from the poorest family and the most intelligent one.
We kindly request for the sponsor ship for our pupils who we believe will be the best leaders , i believe the one who provides education to poor maasai will never miss blessings from the Almighty God.
